WARNING: This is a book review. I have one book that I received prior to starting my new job that is from Blogging for Books for doing reviews for the publisher Multnomah Publishing.  It is my duty to read this book and do a review.  I hope you enjoy. Well, it is worth repeating.  This book....oh my....I like what it says.  I want to be part of witnessing and being part of daily miracles.  The miracles discussed in the book are not parting-of-the-sea sized miracles.  They are daily miracles.  Ones that outsiders would think aren't even miracles, but that if they happened to you right when you needed them, you'd call them miracles.  I've experienced that.  I've witnessed that. I've been preoccupied the last several days.  I started reading a book my dad loaned me.  He is a really big reader of WWII books, especially if they are true stories. This one is called Flyboys: A True Story of Courage by James Bradley.  He is the same author who wrote Flags of Our Fathers , about the guys who raised the flag at Iwo Jima. The author seems to do a really good job of presenting the facts, as ugly as they are. I haven't done any research to verify his sources but he seems to be very balanced in presenting what happened and why in his opinion it did.  He starts by explaining how this book came to be written. This book presents events 150 years prior to WWII and helps to explain the Japanese mindset and how western Christians helped to create that mindset.  Yes, Christians. This book was very difficult to read and difficult to put down at the same time - The idea of not being able to drive past a wreck without straining to see what happened....

I haven’t read a lot of Christian novels, but some of the ones I’ve read haven been sappy and tried too hard to demonstrate that they are Christian novels.   This book, Judgment Day , is a who-dunnit mystery that is not sappy or that tries too hard to be Christian. I was pleasantly surprised that the book has a discussion of David throughout.  I was not expecting that. While I do not think every assumption and assertion is directly from the Bible, the book discusses many ideas that are certainly thought-provoking. I chose to review a book by Ruth Myers because I was very touched when I used 31 Days of Praise several years ago as a daily devotion.   I thought 31 Days of Drawing Near to God would enhance my relationship with our God and Savior.
