How have you changed since you accepted Christ's gift of salvation? There are several ways to see that a person is new in Christ. One is evidenced in growth in fruit of the Spirit. See Galations 5;22. "..the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Of course, this is a short list of the attributes of a Christian, or rather becoming more Christl-ike. I'm reading a book called "Love as a Way of Life" by Gary Chapman. It lists several ways of loving others, including several from the Fruit of the Spirit list. There are a lot of ways to grow in Christ.
Others should be able to see your growth in Christ-likeness. But I believe you should also be aware of your own growth. You are the only one who knows about ill-feelings you may be harboring against someone. That is not to say that it isn't obvious to other people but only you know the depth of ill feelings you have for someone who has wronged you or who rubs you the wrong way.
I want to list some ways I've grown more Christ-like. Before I start, I want to say I still have a long way to go. I fail daily. But I don't want to wallow in failures. I want to acknowledge that Christ has changed me in some tangible ways. Here is a short list.
1) I am a lot more patient with other people. It may not come out in the tone or the words I use but I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I seldom get aggravated with people. It comes more natural for me to see things from their shoes.
2) I seldom get mad when I drop something, or stub my toe, or any number of other of life's irritants.
3) I frequently say thank You to God that whatever I've dropped didn't land on my foot, or in the toilet.
I don't know if others who have known me a long time can tell any difference in me but I know without any doubt that Christ is at work in me and has accomplished some tremendous feats of improvement. How about you?
Dear Holy Spirit, given to me by my Savior Jesus, thank You for a good work in me. I cannot thank You enough for the change in attitude You have given me. Amen
