Well, for anyone who cares (besides me and my husband), I start a new job on Monday. My nearly 2 year vacation is coming to an end. This is bittersweet because in spite of the drastically reduced income (and the perks that were lost with that reduction), it has been really enjoyable spending so much time with God. When I'm home by myself for almost 8 hours every day, it is very easy to spend time in prayer, reading a devotional or Bible, and/or writing a blog. I have also been able to spend a lot more time with my husband and others. So I will be giving much of that up.
But I will be gaining too. I can already see my husband is less tired. I can see how the burden of paying the bills alone can be exhausting. After I start making an income again, we will be able to plan for things like vacations and retirement. Yes, I am going back to work in part to plan for retirement! Building that retirement account is important.
I am posting about this for a couple of reasons. 1) I've mentioned it many times - looking for work, wondering what's next, etc. So I wanted you know about the prayers answered. God is in the prayer-answering business!!
2) It will impact my ability to write a blog. I have no idea what I'll be able to do, or what I'll want to do with this blog. I will try not to abandon it. I do enjoy writing it but am pretty sure that I won't be able to write as much as I do now.
As a matter of fact, this will probably be my last post for a while. The rest of this week, I will be at our church's annual conference. I don't think I'll have access to the Internet and since there are meetings all day long each day, I won't be able to write posts anyway. So, to anyone who has ever read a post....Thank You. To those who have commented......Thank You. To anyone who will miss my posts, please email me (address available through my profile) and tell me what you'd like me to write about....a passage, a concept, a word, whatever. And Thank You for reading regularly!
I don't know what God has in store next but I am sure this is what I'm supposed to do next, in part because nothing else has developed. One thing I am certain of is that God answers prayers. I've been praying that I am offered the job I am supposed to have, so this is it.
Last week before the job offer came, I found 3 pennies in two day's time. When I find a penny, it isn't a reminder to trust in God, like most people say. For me, finding a penny is God telling me He loves me. I figured that something was up that He wanted to remind me of His love. I guess going off my nearly-two-year vacation was the "something that was up". I trust that He has a plan and that His plan is perfect.
I ask for your prayers - that I am able to go a good, even great job, at what I will be doing; also that I will be be able to do a good job at home and other activities. Also that I will be able to continue some of the things I've started in during "vacation time", including this blog.
Dear Planner of the Universe, thank You so much for Your plans that even include when a sparrow falls from the sky and the numbers of hairs on my head. I pray that You will continue to be with me as and when I need Your support and endurance. You are awesome. and Thank You for the long vacation and for the new job. Help me deal well with the changes!! Amen
