Have you ever wondered why Jesus chose to heal the ones he choose to heal? I mean, why didn't he just do mass healings? Like when he was in the house that the friends dropped their crippled friend on a mat through the roof - why didn't Jesus heal everyone who was there? When the woman touched the hem of his robe, why didn't others who'd touched his or his robe at the same time receive healing?
Some were healed when they asked to be healed. Others were healed when other people asked Jesus to heal them. A select few were chosen by Jesus to be healed. Was this to demonstrate diversity? Diversity in who is chosen? Diversity in condition and circumstances? Diversity in the relationships being established or enhanced?
Of course, only Christ knows why he chose the ones he chose. Just like only God knows why He chooses some to be in the Book of Life. Wouldn't it be neat to find this Book of Life? Think of what we could do with that! - or maybe we better not. Judgments are leaping into my brain!
Back to the healings.....I guess those choices are no different from ones that are made every day. Why are some people healed of cancer while others are not, or seem to be only to have it come back? Why? Why? Why?
Here's my answer. I hope it doesn't sound to simplistic. God is a God of relationships.....individual relationships....a relationship with me unlike a relationship with you...and you....and you. Within that relationship, God uses what is necessary to enhance our relationship with Him, or develop our character to do His job, or develop through us a relationship with ones we have contact with or any number of other things that would meet God's purposes. He refines us, molds us, crafts us to be able to do what He has planned for us to do, both in this life and in the next life.
It isn't easy, or pretty, but the results are a closer and more productive relationship. With God's refining, we would be more fruitful and more useful to God.......and that's the point.
Dear God, thank you for any refining you do for me and to me. Forgive me when I complain about it. Amen
