The Bible gives us examples how to approach the throne. In First Samuel 1:10, Hannah approached God "in bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the LORD". Esther approached after much fasting (see Esther 4 - 5) (Yes, I know she was approaching the king's throne but she fasted and interceded in prayer before approaching the king's throne.) In Exodus 17, "Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. 16 He said, “For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD." And don't forget how Jesus approached God in complete submission and obedience on the cross!
From these few verses we see that 1) we should approach the throne - God expects it. God is prepared for it. 2) we should be humbled and prepared to be honest. 3) We should approach God's throne as an act of praise.
God already knows what we need. God already knows what we want. God wants us to understand what we need and what we want and that God can provide all of it. Only by approaching God's throne in prayer can we express this. We must be humble, prayerful, praise filled, accepting the response. I am always amazed by the Bible. There is so much there. We get hung up on what isn't there that we often miss the vast amount of instruction is contained in those 66 books.
Father, When I am reluctant for whatever reason to approach You, please remind me that you already know what is going on in my life and that you are already prepared to deal with it. Thank You so much for Your mercy and grace. In Jesus perfect name, Amen.

Amen! This is well said. I have to admit, sometimes I find myself instructing God how to take care of a problem. Or even giving Him a choice between plan A, plan B, or plan C. Oy! So silly. But you're right to come humbly to His throne with praise and adoration and with a full awareness of His majesty.
