Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were all Christians....everyone in the whole world? At first the thought was calming and peaceful.... soothing.
Then I thought of the fighting that goes on in church families, in Bible Study groups, in church organizations.
I hate to say it but as wonderful as it would be if everyone were Christian, it would not eliminate harsh treatment, disrespectful attitudes, back-stabbing, and rumor-spreading.
There would be more forgiveness.
There would be more love, service, assistance, caring.
But we Christians still carry too much pride....pride that causes us to want things our own way at whatever the cost (because we don't take time to evaluate the true cost).
But I still like the idea. Yes, other faiths would protest this notion as being hurtful and prideful, that it is arrogant to say ours is the only way to truly love and honor God and accept His offer of eternity in heaven. But we, Christians, aren't the ones who said it. Jesus did. So if it is arrogant, it is also accurate.
Let's ponder on what life would be like if everyone in the whole world were Christian, really Christian, with a personal heartfelt relationship with Christ.
We would depend on and trust God. So when something happened we would all know that it was within God's providence and therefore under God's control. We would be less likely to blame each other. How much better would the world be if there were less blame-game being played!!??
When we might still blame each other, but we'd be slower to anger and retaliation and quicker to forgive.
We would accept each other as we are. Just as Jesus did. Recognizing that we are all works in progress, being transformed into the image of Christ, but we aren't there yet. So we'd be more patient and accepting of each other faults.
We'd put the grocery cart where it belongs. We'd put the can of peas back where we got them when we figured out we don't really want the can. We'd offer help. We wouldn't litter. We'd provide for those less fortunate and protect those who are weak. We'd ALL pray for each other. Think of the wonderful praise songs we'd sing. Oh MY, how wonderful the sound!
I like the idea. A Lot. Guess I better get busy talking about my relationship with Christ, huh? Spread the word. The world will be a better place.
