I received an email forward today titled God versus Science. You can find it on Snopes.com or TruthorFiction.com if you are interested. The email got me thinking. At one point in time, eons ago, perhaps when science was new, scientists believed in God. Scientists did not intend to disprove the existence of God. Scientists used their theories and mathematical equations to prove the existence of God. After all, creation is so complex, how could it not be governed by principles set up by a Creator? Somehow over the course of time, perhaps because we have grown so smart, educated, and self-sufficient, many people use scientific theory as proof that God does NOT exist.
For all those people who think that somehow all of this stuff (from whatever keeps the planets from bumping into each other to why crude oil breaks up in salt water to why my kids look like both mu husband and me) is random, I feel so sorry for you because you are missing out on such a rich relationship with the Creator. My Gosh, He is unbelievably creative, intelligent, forgiving. There is nothing you can think of that He hasn't already thought of...and knew that and when you'd think of it. There is nothing you can do that He is not capable of forgiving. There is no tragedy so bad that He can't help you get through and grow from it if you ask Him.
For some reason we think we need to know and understand how and why things occur. We should be able to reason, or at least SOMEONE should be able to understand and explain it to us. This need to know frustrates us, distracts us, causes us to pursue those things that really don't matter. When I have cross words with someone, many times it has to do with a misunderstanding. One of us misunderstood the other. Then as women, we have this NEED to keep explaining until you understand our position. Again, this frustrates us and distracts us from what really matters.
God Created. God Loves. God Saves. All this through Jesus. That is really all we need to know ..... about anything. Amen.
