Refer to the previous post about reunion groups. I'm going to try to "go over my service sheet" once a week using my blog. Of course, it won't be like going over it with reunion group members. This won't be confidential and probably no one will hold me accountable if I don't do something I say I'm going to do, but this seems like a good avenue to go over my service sheet anyway. I'll see how it works out but here goes one. (I will change some of the wording because it is copyrighted stuff but you'll get the idea.)
What did I do in the last week related to Prayer, Study and Action? What will I do in the coming week? This past week I prayed for the EDWE 67 team members and the pilgrims along with their sponsors. I prayed each day for our pastor and his family (who are leaving to go to another church) and I've prayed for the new pastor who is coming. I also prayed that our congregation accept the new family and begin the reconciliation process within the congregation. I helped with set-up Thursday for this weekend's Walk. I sang in the Easter Cantata last Sunday. I am up-to-date with my readings and blog. Over the next week, I will continue to pray as noted above. I will attempt to get ahead on my readings because I don't know how much I'll be able to do when I'm at the Walk next weekend (as board rep team member). I miss my Saturday group. We haven't met as a group since Lent started.
The next question is when /how did I feel close to Christ this past week. I love this question. This one question is one reason why I really like the reunion group suggested format. I felt closest to Christ this past week when we did the cantata and I think did it well, or at least the congregation seemed to think it went very well. The songs were wonderful. There is/was Joy in the House.
The next question is about responding to God's all to be a disciple, where did I participate in being the Christ's hands and/or feet. That is easy.....this week. I went to help get the campground ready for the Men's walk this weekend. I swept the floors, emptied trash and inserted trash bags, that sort of thing. Got my hands dirty. Sweated. But I was preparing the place for more of Christ's work to get done but the members of the team.
This next question is hard. It calls for self examination, reflection, confession. When did I feel called but failed in some way? What tested my faith? When did I fail Christ? Well, I don't want to publish my failures. Suffice it to say, I can't or rather don't keep my opinions to myself. I need to move away from that in me. I need to turn the other cheek, love unconditionally, keep my mouth shut!
What is my plan for next week? Prayer as stated above. I plan to sing at the nursing home on Fridays. I plan to work the Women's Walk starting Thursday, April 15. This evening I will help serve, or clean, or prepare food for the Table of Blessing meal. I will also try to get ahead on my reading and my blog posts so I an keep 'em coming while I'm unable to post during the 3 - 4 days of the Walk.
Prayer requests: What to do about a job/income. Help me with that, Lord. Also, the pilgrims and their sponsors as well as the team members for the Men's and Women's walks. I lift up those people who are ill, facing harsh times, needing Christ in their lives. I get those names from a variety of sources. God knows who they are and what they need.
So, there is this week's service sheet. I hope I am Christ's hands and feet more often than I fail at it. With Christ's Help! Amen.
