Psalm 84:12 (NIV) O LORD Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.
Blessed is the person who trusts in You. How is the person who trusts in You blessed? The first response is peace. When I trust You, Lord, really trust You, I have peace that other people can't understand. This seldom describes me. I don't know that anyone has ever said that I seem to have peace. So even if I feel it inwardly, it doesn't show on the outside.
In one of my devotional readings today, this verse was used and with it, the term "one day at a time" was used. I have an interview today (I'm writing this on Thursday) and another schedule for over a week from now. So what have I been doing? Worrying about the interview. Worrying about getting the job. Fretting over the drive, learning the job itself, getting to know the people, missing out on my present state of free time and time to spend with God. No, I am not spending all my time, now that I'm not working with God. BUT in my head, when I get a job, I'll spend less time with God. That is a worry. But should it be?
Another verse from my daily Bible reading is "...when the people willingly offer themselves..." from Judges 5:2b (NIV) I wonder if this passage and the other passage about being blessed work together. If I willing offer myself daily to God in complete trust, I will be blessed, no matter what happens. I am going to strive for that. Offering myself in complete trust to God each day knowing that He will bless me in whatever He has me do. I will be blessed in richness in my relationship with Him. I will be blessed in a release from guilt. I will be blessed in any thing He will have me do.
Today, Dear Father God, I willingly give myself over to You to do with what You will. I trust that You will do what is the best for Your plans and that I will be blessed because of Your faithfulness, grace and mercy. Help me, Holy Spirit, each time I renege on my promise to trust. Thank you Jesus for Your example of trusting in the Father. Amen
