It's been snowing for a while now, started around 8 last night.SNOWED.....Hard at times. Lots of snow. Several inches of snow. Can't see where the driveway ends and the yard begins. Don't know where the street is, except it's close to the mailbox as I recall.
Today, I can say without one iota of doubt that God loves my husband, my dog and me. I don't much like physical labor. I don't do it well. I'm not very strong so it is difficult. I also don't like, rather I nearly hate, cold. What does this have to do with snow and knowing that God loves my husband, dog and me? I actually wanted to clear the thick snow off the driveway. Yes, wanted to.
I didn't want to take the dog for a walk because after all, it's snowing....so it's too cold to go for a walk, right? So the poor dog is stuck bored in the house yet again......except that I wanted to clear the snow off the driveway. I bundled up, like I do when I take Winston (the dog, not my husband) for a walk. He got all excited, spinning in circles (again, the dog, not husband). Then I didn't put the leash on him.....He was confused but when I said, "do you want to go outside", he ran to the door. We went out back to get the snow shovel. Yes, I knew where it was.
And I started to push the snow off the driveway. I say "push" because I didn't lift the blade except when I had to heave it up over the snow into the yard. I acted like the blade of a plow. I want you to know that I did not get cold. I stopped several times to make snow balls for the dog to chase. He LOVED that. I also tossed a couple of yellow tennis balls so he had a better chance of "finding" it. (If I knew how to load a short movie clip of him I would but I can't. Sorry.) - you should see tracks in the snow on the front lawn! Now the driveway is cleared of almost all the snow.
Let me list the good things that I can think of that God did during this adventure that lets me know His love.
1) I WANTED to clear the driveway. This is nearly a miracle.
2) I knew where the snow shovel was.
3) It wasn't cold - I mean not really cold. Actually just cold enough that I didn't get hot while working!
4) There was no ice under the snow to make it too hard for me to do.
5) My dog didn't run off but stayed right here waiting for another snow ball or tennis ball. He ran and jumped and buried his head. He had great fun.
6) My husband would have come home and spent lunch time clearing a path to the mailbox and probably working on the rest of the drive. Yes, he would have done it MUCH faster but he still would have been the one to do it. This way, he didn't have to. :)
7) I got done just as my left foot was getting wet from snow getting inside my boot.
8) The sun was still hidden by the snow clouds so it wasn't so bright it hurt my eyes.
9) I didn't get out of breath; I feel no pain; and I got a nice idea for my blog.
So, you see? God loves my husband (for the cleared driveway), my dog (who got to play in the snow) and me. You may think this is silly but I KNOW that God appreciates it when we appreciate the stuff He does or provides for us every day.
Thank you, God for Your many many kindnesses You show me each day. Amen
